Writing the history of the Earley Charity, begun about 2001 and finished in 2008, involved drawing upon a wide range of sources. These included archival materials in Berkshire Record Office and the National Archives; archival materials owned by the Earley Charity; historical newspapers and other local materials in Reading Public Library; general works of economic and social history; works of local history, locally published; and information drawn from gravestones in various local churchyards and chapels.
